808453When you and your child find a favorite book, don’t forget to look for other books by the same author.  This is a great way to find other books you may enjoy and to start a fun discussion about the author’s books.  Talk about ways the books are the same and how they are different.  Which one do you like the best and why?   Most authors of children’s books have websites where you can learn interesting information about the author and how he/she became a writer.

Jerry Pallotta is a man who shows it is never too late to become an author.  He never wrote stories in school or worked on his college newspaper.  When he was a 32 year old insurance salesmen, he was looking for a creative way to teach his children the ABCs.   He wrote The Ocean Alphabet Book which was the first of his over 20 alphabet books.  He has written alphabet books about airplanes, flowers, construction vehicles, icky bugs, furry animals, the army, the ocean, butterflies and many more.  Chances are you can find an alphabet book that matches your child’s interests!
